The talented Jacob Lafitte of Loyola had a night to remember leading the Flyers to a 31-28 victory over Red River.

The senior became only the second player in school history to exceed the 4,000-yard mark in his career when he hit Tray Taylor for a 45-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Taylor later became the school leader in a single season with 235 points. He also kicked the deciding field goal, a 23-yard game with 7:33 remaining, to give Loyola (6-3) the first lead in the out-of-district contest.

“We came out very slowly in the first half. Red River punched us in the mouth, ”said Lafitte. “We came back in the second half, got together and started tackling. Now that we’ve won, we can celebrate.

The Bulldogs (6-3) got a solid game from Navy engagement Tre Smith, who hit a pair of touchdown passes, but couldn’t convert a fourth play against the Bulldogs’ final series. .
