Threat to Academy Park High School causes all buildings in Southeast Delco School District to be closed

School officials say a potential threat to Academy Park High School prompted the Southeastern School District of Delco to close all school buildings on Friday “out of excess of caution.”

“Earlier in the evening, district officials received advice from Safe2Say regarding a possible threat to Academy Park High School grounds,” officials said in a brief statement Thursday evening.

Officials say a potential threat to Academy Park High School resulted in the closure of all schools in Southeast Delco on Friday.

The district did not share the nature of the threat or who is suspected to be responsible.

Local law enforcement is investigating the threat, according to the district.

Meanwhile, Academy Park High School is at the center of a separate investigation after an 8-year-old girl was killed in a shootout near a high school football game last month.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said there is a “high probability” that three officers who responded when bullets passed them may have inadvertently hit the child and two other people, including her 12-year-old sister.

“Fanta’s death and the injuries to her sister and other students are a heartbreaking tragedy for her family, friends and the entire Delaware County community,” Stollsteimer said earlier this month.

Sharon Hill Borough Council on Thursday appealed to former Philadelphia District Attorney Kelly Hodge to investigate the borough’s police policies and procedures.
