School district will return to in-person learning early

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) – Danville School District will be able to resume in-person learning sooner than planned …

The Illinois Department of Public Health said quarantine periods for schools are now reduced to five days, followed by continuous masking for an additional five days. According to Superintendent Alicia Geddis, with a reduction in the number of days required for quarantine, they can adjust the schedule and minimize the number of days required for distance learning during the week of Jan. 10-14.

The schedule for this week is as follows:
Monday January 10
+) Traditional semester planning day calendar (originally scheduled for Friday January 14). No school for the pupils of the traditional calendar. Staff report to buildings.
+) North East Elementary Calendar – Distance Learning Day – Follow the distance learning calendar. Staff will report to the building.
Tuesday January 11 – All students return to in-person learning. Regular hours resume and all extracurricular activities resume. The ISBE and IDPH guidelines are in full force. Masks are compulsory in all schools.
Wednesday January 12 – Friday January 14 – Regular school days.

Geddis said, “As the positivity rates change in Vermilion County, we ask that you continue to closely monitor your child, yourself, other immediate family members, and anyone living in your home. “
