2022 Mityana District High School Football Championship Quarterfinals ended on Friday 11thand Walk on the ground from Ssaza to Mityana.

Royal Giant High School, Mityana SS (Namukoozi), Ssingo SS and Mumusa SS advanced to the final four stages after negotiating their respective duels in the quarter-finals.

Royal Giants High School humiliated Kabule Township 6-0 in a one-sided game.

Skipper Shafic Kakande and Ronald Kaye each scored a double.

The other two goals came from UPDF’s Anwar Awardh and Samson Kasozi for the side coached by Impala Hill head coach Frank Mulindwa.

Mityana SS beat Namungo SS 4-0 thanks to Aggrey Ainembabazi’s hat-trick and Eric Ageno’s other goal.

Ssingo High School, an entity coached by Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza defeated St. Francis SS 2-0.

Two second-half strikes from Paul Lukyamuzi and Shafik Siranyi gave Ssingo the desired win.

Elsewhere, Mumusa SS edged Pride SS 10-9 in biting fashion in a tense and dramatic penalty shoot-out after regulation time ended scoreless.

Semi-final matches:

Royal Giant High School will face Mumusa SS in one of two semi-final clashes scheduled for Tuesday 15and March 2022.

Mityana SS will face Ssingo SS in the second semi-final at Ssaza’s ground in Mityana.

“We are underdogs but we will give our best in the game in the semi-final.” Ssekabuuza from Ssingo SS revealed to Kawowo Sports.

The two finalists will qualify to represent Mityana District at the zonal level which will also be held in Mityana District.

This area includes schools from the five districts of Gomba, Butambala, Mityana, Mpigi and Mubende.

The top three schools from the zonal event will qualify for the 2022 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Finals scheduled for Arua town in May.

St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende is the reigning national champion.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the nationals were not played in 2020 and 2021 as all schools had been closed.

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) is the main organizer of this competition aimed at identifying and developing local talent.
