Ripon Area School District to provide free lunches to local youth this summer | News

The Ripon Area School District (RASD) will continue to support students and families this summer through the Summer Food Service Program.

Recognizing the importance of providing nutritious meals to children during the summer months, free meals will be made available to children 18 and under through the district food service provider, Aramark.

Additionally, the Community Food Pantry will offer free weekend meals and snacks, available on Fridays.

Free breakfast and lunch will be available for all children in the community on weekdays from June 13 to August 19, as well as August 30 and 31. Children who are not students at SADR are invited to participate in the free program.

The program is offered at no cost to the district as it is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Breakfast and lunch will be available on weekdays from the first day of summer school, June 13 and will continue until August 19. Meals will also be available on August 30 and 31.

Summer school students will be served breakfast from 7:40 a.m. Children who do not attend the summer school are invited to come and have breakfast from 8:00 am.

Likewise, summer school lunch in elementary buildings will be served at 11:30 a.m., with high school lunch starting at 11:00 a.m.

Community service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at all locations. During summer courses, meals will be provided in all buildings.

Children from the community are encouraged to come to the building that suits them. After most summer classes end on July 15, all community meals will be served at Ripon High School at 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The free program is not income-based and everyone is encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Superintendent Mary Whitrock at [email protected]
