Renee Foley of Graham A. Barden Elementary School

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) – The teacher of the week for December 15 is Renee Foley of Graham A. Barden Elementary School.

Foley is a third grade teacher. She says her love for working with children started in high school when she had the opportunity to take a course that also served as a kindergarten. She says she had to work with a specific preschooler, create lesson plans, and teach in groups.

Foley says her high school experience prompted her to attend Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania for elementary school with a minor in anomalies. After graduating from college, she became a construction substitute for a school district in Pennsylvania before moving to Stafford, Va., For her first teaching position.

As a military wife, Foley moved to Havelock and got a third grade teaching job in Craven County. She says she loves her colleagues, her class and her job. She says, “I feel blessed to have worked with so many amazing students / educators who have helped shape my life for the better.

Foley says her goal in class is to let students know that mistakes are okay because they will help us learn and keep a positive attitude.

The person who appointed Ms. Foley wrote: “I would like to name Renee Foley, a third grade teacher at Graham A Barden.

Ms. Foley is dedicated to the success of her children in the classroom. This is the first year my kid really enjoys going to school and I feel like having a good teacher is the main reason.

She also established a relationship with me as a parent, sending me positive feedback about my child’s behavior and grades in class. She has never sent me a negative report on my child, which is very important to me as this is the first year my child has been in school without a teacher. Being an early childhood education teacher myself, I feel it has a positive impact on the child’s life and academic success.

Ms. Foley deserves to be recognized for all of her hard work, positive attitude and the difference she has made to my life and that of my child.

Congratulations Mrs. Foley!
