No Montgomery School District Meal Price Increase | News, Sports, Jobs

The Montgomery Area School Board at its April meeting voted to maintain meal prices for students and district employees.

Elementary students will continue to pay $1 for breakfasts and $2 for dinners.

For high school students, prices will be $1.10 for lunches and $2.10 for dinners.

Adult breakfasts are $1.90 and adult lunches are $3.90.

The board has approved a new five-year contract for commercial director Grant Evangelisti.

The deal calls for him to earn $116,000 in the first year with 3% increases for each successive year of the contract.

In other personnel matters, the board approved Melissa Kelley as a speech-language pathologist for the 2022-2023 school year at an annual salary of $52,886.

Doug McClintock has been approved as a backup bus driver for Mowery Transportation.

The board has accepted the resignation of chemistry/biology teacher Nick Gentile, effective at the end of the school year.

Quotes from GovConnection Inc., $22,132, and APP-TECHS, $19,920, have been approved for cameras and equipment.

The board filed an action on a motion to approve a trip to San Antonio, Texas for the fifth-year KidWind team to compete in a May 16-19 national competition.

Tom Persing, board member, initiated a brief discussion regarding the high school baseball field.

He said wet conditions too often over the years have caused games to be postponed there.

“It’s a recurring problem” he said.

Athletic director Mike Snyder said the outfield is where a lot of the water is.

Superintendent Daphne Bowers agreed.

“We have to figure out how to drain this field”, she says.

In other matters, the board approved:

• A motion to support a girls’ wrestling program in the district.

• The food service renewal agreement with The Nutrition Group for the next school year.

• A request to use the high school cafeteria on May 13 for a dance.

• A field trip by the AP history class in Baltimore on May 11-12.
