New Castle Area School District Makes Staff Changes | New


At its regular meeting on Monday, the New Castle area school board took the following action:

• Accepted the resignations of Toni Gealy, care assistant; Gurt Worrell and Barb Norco, cafeteria workers; Susan Harlan, Head Coach, Girls’ Cross Country; and Tanai Brothers, Head Coach, Grade 7 Women’s Basketball.

• Approved the hiring of Chancellor Partin as a computer technician at a salary of $ 40,000 plus fringe benefits.

• Voted to increase the salaries of the other two computer technicians in the district from $ 42,500 to $ 45,000, retroactive to July 1 for the 2021-22 school year.

• Authorization granted to the primary health network to use the administrative building in Croton from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7 for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

• Approved the hiring of Natalie Miller as a full-time substitute teacher in Biology and General Sciences for the first semester of this school year.

• Approved the hiring of individual tutors in the district’s Learning and Recovery Success Program, funded by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund funding the district received due to COVID- 19. They are Rianna Lyden of the Harry W. Lockley Early Learning Center; Victoria Pezzuolo and Maria Antonio, both full-time, and Paula Aromando and Gianna Serignese, both part-time, at the George Washington Intermediate School; Jake Rocco and Thomas Varnati in college and Courtney Bauder, part-time, in high school.

• I agreed to hire Angela Palimino as an IT Support / COVID Response Assistant for $ 13 per hour, for seven hours per day. His job will be to take care of increasing enrollment in cyber schools from 30 to 150 students, making the necessary arrangements for their computers and exercise books.

• Hiring of Patricia Miller, Nicole Miller and Kelly Ericsson as personal care assistants.

• Approved the hiring of Preston Raeburn as a permanent cafeteria employee and backup attendant at a salary of $ 12.50 per hour, up to four hours per day.

• Approved the addition of these people to the replacement list: Susan Payne, cafeteria; André Marting, guardian; Katie Razzano, Secretary and Personal Care Assistant; Paulette Booker, nursing assistant; and Kristin Scalzo, security.

• Approved the hiring of Travis McConnell as a backup driver and bus instructor for First Student, the district bus company; and Kody Bailey, Samantha Bogear, Shannon Cook, Tyler Mellott and Sherry Whisel, all as bus monitors.
