Visitors, players, coaches and students were moved to one end of Silverado High School stadium in Victorville after gunfire rang out Friday night as a preseason football game wrapped up.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told The Daily Press that at 8:38 p.m. a caller reported the game had just ended when multiple gunshots were heard in the parking lot.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene. No gunshot wound victims were found and no suspects were identified, Rodriguez said.

The investigation is still active and no further details are available, sheriff’s officials said.

Gunshots rang out at Silverado High School on Friday night as a preseason football game wrapped up at the school in Victorville.

Silverado manager Heather Conkle told the Daily Press she could not comment due to the active investigation.

“It was a great game, and it’s a shame it wasn’t the headline,” Conkle said of the game between visiting Serrano High School and Silverado.

Witnesses told the Daily Press that players, coaches and students were on the pitch when the shots rang out.

They added that everyone in the stadium had moved to one end of the playing field for their safety.

A witness said an area of ​​the school parking lot was blocked off, possibly for an investigation, and vehicles were prevented from exiting.

“My grandchildren who are 4, 7 and 8 were scared to death,” said one grandparent. “They say they thought they were going to die.”

On Friday night, Snowline Joint Unified School District officials released a statement online about the shooting at Silverado High.

Part of the statement said the shooting did not involve Serrano High students, staff or spectators, who returned safely to the Phelan campus.

Upon arrival, they were met by senior Serrano administration officials and Snowline School police. Serrano counselors will be available to staff and students for additional support, district officials said.
