East Lancaster County School District Updates Mask Mandate; an allowed exception

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – As of Monday, September 13, the East Lancaster County School District is authorizing “relief from mask and face covering warrants” as long as an exception form request is completed, signed and submitted to school.

Exceptions are allowed and accepted without the signature of a healthcare professional. Students must wear a mask if they do not have their parents sign and return the exception form. According to a letter sent to parents, forms must be submitted by Friday, September 24.

“For those who want an alternative to in-person learning, we encourage these families to switch to our ElancOnline program,” said Robert M. Hollister, Superintendent, in the letter to parents.

The letter also included the latest COVID-19 conditions at schools in the district:

  • Elemental Blue Ball – Total 5 positive cases, 2 personal, 3 learners (4 in the building during infectious period)
  • Brecknock Elementary School – Total 2 positive cases, 0 staff, 2 learners (0 in the building during an infectious period)
  • New Holland Elementary School – Total 11 positive cases, 3 staff, 8 learners (8 in the building during infectious period)
  • Secondary campus garden (7-12) – Total 38 positive cases, 3 staff, 35 learners (34 in the building during an infectious period)
