Food for the holidays is often a big expense. The Happy Kids Network is once again seeking to alleviate this problem.

The Wisconsin Dells-based nonprofit is having its fourth annual holiday market on December 23 from noon to 6 p.m. at Wisconsin Dells High School. Families in the Wisconsin Dells School District are allowed access to food, cooking utensils, and other vacation essentials regardless of income or other factors. All items will be free.

“We will have over 100,000 pounds of food available,” said Autumn Giddings, vice president of Happy Kids Network. “Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats and cheeses, things like that. Lots of preserves to help people get through the winter.”

In addition to the various food products, the holiday market will also offer kitchen items. Air fryers, slow cookers, hot plates, frying pans, pots and pans and other tools will be available for families.

Blankets and other bedding will also be included. Families can also get toiletries and cleaning supplies.

“Anything your family can use, we’ll send it to you,” Giddings said.

Happy Kids Network has a free market for Dells schoolchildren from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day of the week except Wednesday. The market is funded by a grant from Second Harvest in Wisconsin, which also funds much of the food for the holiday market.
