College principal among new recruits announced by district

Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh announced Friday the hiring of a new principal for Hopkinton Middle School. Matthew Lefebvre was hired after serving as vice-principal at Westborough High School for the past decade.

Lefebvre, who began his career as a music educator, will be hosting listening tours for teachers and families in the near future, Cavanaugh shared in an email to the school community.

Jeffrey LaBroad was hired as assistant superintendent following his appearance before the school committee last week. LaBroad previously worked as principal at Josiah Haynes Elementary School in Sudbury. A graduate of three Boston College degrees, LaBroad began his career as a 4th grade teacher.

Kiely Murray will be the acting high school athletic director. Murray has spent the past 13 years working as a school counselor and coach in Hopkinton. She is a registered sports administrator with a background in organizational management, counseling psychology, and instructional leadership.

“Kiely is particularly passionate about mental performance and educational athletics,” Cavanaugh explained. “She looks forward to continuing to support student-athletes from a new perspective and continuing the strong tradition of Hiller athletics.”

Other positions remain to be filled.
