Ocean View School District administrators and special guests had a good view of Vista View Middle School on Thursday afternoon.

The district held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fountain Valley College, which recently underwent a $29 million upgrade.

Both the exterior and interior of the school are now adorned with vibrant imagery that reflects Vista View’s STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning environment.

Vista View now has facilities such as new science classrooms, a culinary arts center with an outdoor garden, and a media center/library. It also has an esports tech classroom with advanced computers for competitive gaming, a custom lunch shelter, a new fitness class and more.

“Vista View classrooms have been carefully designed to provide opportunities for innovation, hands-on learning, and collaboration with peers,” said OVSD Superintendent. Michael Conroy said in a statement.

Although Vista View is in Fountain Valley, a considerable number of children from Huntington Beach travel there, including those from the Oak View neighborhood.

The modernization project was funded through Measure R, a general bond bond passed in 2016. Modernizations have also been completed at Westmont Elementary in Westminster, College View Elementary in Huntington Beach and Marine View Middle School in Huntington Beach.

Star View Elementary in Midway City is next, currently being renovated with Measure R funds.

On Thursday, members of the public eat fresh cookies in the culinary arts kitchen at Vista View Middle School.
