Chatfield Elementary School in Belle Plaine was selected “Best School in Minnesota” with a gold award in the Best Elementary School in the State of Minnesota category.
The Star Tribune’s annual Best of Minnesota competition had more than 5,700 businesses, organizations and individuals competing for nomination in the top three places in more than 300 categories.
The categories included education, agriculture, beauty and fitness, food and drink, law and more.
Chatfield Elementary was nominated for Best Elementary School this spring, and parents and community members voted for the school until May.
The awards were announced on Sunday August 1.
“I think what sets us apart is the combination of our students, staff and families. Without everyone’s collaboration and support, we would not be able to provide a great education to our students in a caring, safe and supportive environment, ”said Kim DeWitte, Principal of Chatfield. “I also want to personally thank everyone who took the time to vote for Chatfield. It is truly an honor to work in Chatfield and to be part of the Belle Plaine School District.
The 2021 Bronze Award for Best Elementary School went to St. Alphonsus Catholic School at Brooklyn Center. The money was awarded to the Visitation School in Mendota Heights.
