Balsz School District Governing Board Appoints Dr. George Barnes as New Superintendent


the Balsz school district The board of directors has selected Dr George Barnes as his next superintendent. Dr Barnes will begin his new role on February 1, leading a district of approximately 2,400 Kindergarten to 8e quality students and a faculty and staff of 260.

“We are very pleased to have selected Dr Barnes as our Superintendent and look forward to working with him as he takes the lead in Balsz Primary School District,“said the chairman of the board of directors of Balsz Gail Chevalier.

“We had three very strong finalists competing for the position, and in the end, Dr. Barnes’ breadth of experience and vision for the district really set him apart,” said Knight.

Dr. Barnes has held leadership positions in education for 15 of his 20 years in the profession. He worked in Arizona as an administrator in schools at all levels and as a teacher at Arizona State University Mary Lou Fulton College of Teachers.

Recently, as assistant superintendent in a school district in a suburb of St. Louis adjacent to Ferguson, Missouri, Dr. Barnes helped fill gaps in academic and social opportunity by leading with a philosophy according to which schools are the epicenter of change, and he has worked hand in hand – in collaboration with community partners to meet the needs.

Dr Barnes holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Butler University, a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Indiana University, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
